In 2006, the Hickory City Council created the Airport Task Force to take a hard look at the future of the Hickory Regional Airport. The Council appointed civic and business leaders with an interest in aviation, economic development and quality of life from across the Hickory Metro area. The Task Force was asked to examine the basic assumptions, mission and objectives that guide the City's ownership and operation of the Hickory Regional Airport.
