Fire Suppression Division

The Fire Suppression Division is the largest division within the Hickory Fire Department. It is divided into three battalions: each supervised by a Battalion Chief. Each battalion consists of 35 officers and firefighters working out of seven fire stations. Firefighters work an average of 56 hours per week on a three-battalion system.

We have six engine companies, one ladder, one airport crash/fire/rescue truck, and one tanker that are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Additional apparatus includes a reserve ladder, 2 engine companies, 1 tanker, an airport rescue unit, and an equipment truck.
