TRAINING DIVISION
The Training Division is staffed by a Battalion Chief, a Training Instructor (Captain), and an EMS Coordinator (Captain). The division is supplemented by fifty-five State Certified Instructors. These instructors are employed throughout the various divisions of the Fire Department.
All rookie firefighters receive between six and sixteen weeks of intense instruction through the training division prior to their assignment to the suppression forces. Upon graduation from rookie classes, all recruits are State Certified Firefighter I and II.
The Training Division is responsible for in-service training and prepares study programs that are used by company officers for daily training in the fire stations. In addition, they conduct tests for Engineers every two years and Senior Firefighter tests on an as-needed basis.
The Training Division is located at Fire Station #5.
