The Fire Prevention Bureau provides progressive Fire Code Enforcement, Fire Education and Fire Investigation activities for the City of Hickory.

Overview of NC Fire Prevention Code, Permit Requirements, and Fee Schedule
FY 2007-2008 Fee Schedule
In order to assist in the enforcement of the NC State Fire Prevention Code, the Hickory Fire Department has implemented a permitting system. Permits are required for use of a commercial building, installation of fire protection systems, special assemblies, installation and removal of flammable/combustible liquid storage tanks, open burning, and other operations, processes, or conditions that are hazardous to life and property.
