*CIVIL ENGINEER I

Performs responsible civil engineering work as it relates to plan and specification preparation, design, and review of water and sewer lines, streets, site plans, storm drainage systems, erosion control plans, project management, capital plan, review of plans for accuracy, completing construction and state discharge treatment permits and field inspections as required. Prepares correspondence, reports, studies, and cost estimates on the above subjects. Confers with private engineering and architectural firms, contractors, property owners and the general public relative to technical questions and city standards. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Education equivalent to a BS degree from an accredited college or university with course work in Civil Engineering, licensed as an Engineering Intern (EI). Preferred applicant will possess a PE registration or ability to obtain registration within four (4) years. Skill in the use of civil engineering instruments and equipment and related computer experience. Ability to work effectively with contractors, consulting firms and the public. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to perform both office and field work including site inspections. Some irregular duty hours and inclement weather work as necessary. Minimum Age of 21. Must possess valid Class "C" driver's license.

Performs a variety of professional accounting functions, including reconciling and balancing the general ledger, maintaining subsidiary ledgers and spreadsheets; maintaining vendor files for 1099 processing; assisting with cash management and investment of City funds; preparing and analyzing complex financial records and reports; conducting various internal audits; and other related duties as assigned. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; five years of accounting experience, preferably with a local government; thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Practices, North Carolina General Statutes, fund and grant accounting; and ability to be bonded.

SUMMER SEASONAL POSITION

Assists in all pool duties, lifeguarding, daily intake of money, cleaning bathhouse and pool, add chemicals as needed, test for ph and chlorine levels and assist with swimming lessons. Must be available to work seven days per week. Lifeguard training, CPR, and First aid required. Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to work duty hours of Monday to Sunday 1:00-5:30pm and some mornings working with groups.

RECREATION

PART TIME POSITION

Duty hours vary Monday through Thursday 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. and some Fridays. Supervises and interacts with At-risk middle school students in after school programs. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Willingness and know-how to participate in games (indoor/outdoor, active/inactive), art classes, sciences classes, gymnastics, dance, karate, tutoring and quiet times. Will assist Site Supervisor in planning during bi-weekly staff meetings; serve as a positive role model to middle school students through actions, words and behavior while at work or while interacting with students. Willingness to help children with homework and participate in special events or activities completed away from the centers and possibly after regular hours. Also, the individual will be
responsible for collecting and maintaining student data and other documentation requirements. The individual will be responsible for driving a van to pick up children after school. Desire to be a friend and mentor to middle school students. Minimum age of 18. Must possess a valid Class "C" driver's license from N.C.
