- Friends
of Hickory Public Library
- Friends of Hickory Public Library is a
non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and services to the
Library. Friends provide the following services:

- Hold annual book sale
- Co-sponsor the Summer Reading Program at
both locations of the library
- Co-sponsor library programming, such as
guest speakers
- Purchase needed equipment, such as the
public access computer for word processing
- Purchase materials for the collection,
such as PBS video series
- Sponsor annual National Library Week
bookmark contest
Support library's Preschool Outreach program
- Friends provide not only monetary assistance
to the library, but volunteer their time and energies to Hickory Public
Library as well.

- Friends' members receive the following
benefits:
A membership card and Friends' newsletter
First access to book sales
Opportunity to volunteer for library activities - book sales, special events,
and in all library departments
Friends' organization is governed by an
eight-member Board of Directors elected by the membership annually. The
Board meets bi-monthly to review Friends' goals, projects, and finances.
The Marketing Coordinator of the Library serves in an advisory capacity
to the Friends' Board.

- Membership applications are available at the
library.
- Friends of Ridgeview Library

- Friends of Ridgeview Library is a non-profit
organization providing support to the library, and serving as the voice of
the community in library decisions. Friends donate their time,
energies, and money to helping provide the best possible library service in
the Ridgeview community. The Friends provide the following services:

- Co-sponsor the Summer Reading Program at
Ridgeview
- Purchase needed equipment. such as the
public access typewriter
- Sponsor Tutorial Program
- Sponsor special programming, such as
guest speakers
- Purchase needed materials for the
library, such as the "Hooked on Phonics" kit and school supplies
for the Tutorial Program students.
