Patrick Beaver Second
Floor
The Reference Staff is always on
hand to assist customers on the second floor of the building.

Computers are available on a
first-come, first-serve basis to customers who want to search the Web, type a
resume, locate periodical articles, or search the catalog.

Each workstation, as well as all
copiers and microfiche/film machines, is equipped with a Smart Card reader to
facilitate payment for copies.
But computers are not all we
offer on the second floor. Periodicals are also available here, with
over 200 subscriptions available in hard copy.

Periodical indexes are available
in the same general area.

Many local, regional, state, and
national newspapers are available on the second floor.

A Vertical File houses
pamphlets, brochures, and other ephemeral items too small to shelve.

A map file also is available, to
locate that perfect vacation spot.

Adult non-fiction books and
videotapes are housed on this floor, along with the Reference collection.

One of the more popular areas is
the Beaver Baseball Collection, housing books, videos, CD-ROM's, and audio
books.

And if the Hickory Public
Library does not have the material you need, our Interlibrary Loan Librarian is
available to request information from other libraries.

Finally, the second floor is
home to the Local
History/Genealogy Room.
