Hickory Public Library is a department of the City of Hickory, North Carolina, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The library has two locations: the main facility, the Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, and the Ridgeview Branch. We have a staff of approximately 33 (FTE), including eight professional librarians. Our circulation last year was 432,492, and we have approximately 34,319 registered users from the Unifour Area. (Hickory's estimated population in 2004 was 38,874, but we are situated in the center of the Hickory MSA, with a population of 348,000.) Our collection houses 115,396 volumes, 9,272 videotapes, and 6,946 audio recordings. We subscribe to 377 periodicals.
