Hickory Public Library Holds Big Read Discussions

Hickory Public Library invites the public to two open discussions of The Big Read selection, The Color of Water: A Black Man’s Tribute to His White Mother by James McBride. If you are not a member of a book club that is reading the book, but would like an opportunity to discuss the themes in the book with trained facilitators, come to Patrick Beaver Memorial Library on Thursday, March 8 th at 7:00 p.m. or Wednesday, March 14 th at 2:00 p.m.

McBride’s book is The Big Read selection for Catawba County’s 2007 community-wide read. McBride and his jazz ensemble will be featured in a free public program on Saturday, April 14 th at 7:00 p.m. at Catawba Valley Community College’s Multipurpose Complex.
