Hickory Public Library Looking for Teen Tech Volunteers Hickory Public Library is offering a new volunteer opportunity for local teens. Patrick Beaver Memorial Library’s new Teen Tech Club is looking for teens, ages 15-19, to help provide extra assistance to library computer users. Teen Tech Club volunteers will offer computer assistance to library patrons, beginning this summer and continue year round. Teen Tech volunteers should possess average or better c omputer skills, be willing to help others, desire to learn new skills, have a positive social manner, and have a good work ethic. All volunteers will be screened and trained by library staff. Volunteers are being asked to serve a minimum of two hours per week for four months (32 hrs.) Hours may be served in a shorter time period if desired and volunteers are welcome to serve more than the minimum hours. In exchange for their volunteer service, Teen Techs will receive community service credit for school, civic or youth group projects. Volunteers can also earn job or school references and recommendations for college applications and job resumes. Interested teens can pick up a Teen Tech Club application packet at Patrick Beaver Memorial Libraryor from their school guidance counselor. For more information call the library at 304-0500 ext. 231.
