NoveList: An Online Reader’s Advisory available on NCLIVE What Should I Read Next? NCLive’s NoveList Database can help you find your next good “read.” It also has articles on popular books, discussion guides, reviews, and biographical information about authors. Access is easy. Just click on the NCLive link at the Hickory Public Library Homepage and select the Browse Resources tab to get to the Alphabeticlisting of Databases. Click on N and select NoveList via EBSCO.
A portion of the N section in the alphabetic list follows. The top of the homepage allows Quick Searches by author, title, series, or keyword.
Doing a Quick Search for the AU Cornwell, p returns these titles. Note that the returns include description and reading/lexile levels. You may do a new search from this page. Start Button on the homepage to search from several options. Using the Describe a Plot option, the sample search below will look for books that are set in ancient Rome, are at the adult level, and were published between 2000-2004.
Guided Boolean Searches and Freehand Boolean searches for experienced searchers are also available. Note the link to the Freehand Boolean Search screen.
Finally, articles, guides, biographies, book talks, etc. may be retrieved from the Search Selection Page, which is accessed from the StartButton at the Homepage. A sample search for Book Discussion Guides with the resulting returns is below.
