Caregiver Support Alzheimer's Support Group Offers support and education services to caregivers, family and others interested in Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders.
Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Medical library available on site only. Caregiver Resource Center: Resources include books that may be checked out free pamphlets on various health-related topics and photocopy privilege for caregiver resource material. The following support groups also meet at the AHEC building:
Children of Aging Parents Helps the public understand the special needs of older persons. Holds "Instant Aging Workshops" for community groups. Training programs are also available for nurses and social workers. Caregivers nationwide can contact the information and referral service to learn about local resources. Produces and distributes literature for caregivers.
CNC/Access, Inc. Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Provides services to senior and disabled individuals that enables them to maintain their independence and remain safely in the home. Provides Certified Nursing Assist that assist with the person care needs of clients and/or post-hospitalization support. Also offer Homemaker and Companion Services to provide one-on-one companionship, while assisting with the household management tasks of our clients. Care Coordination Services also available. Assists families to locate and arrange complimenting services (i.e., medical equipment, community resources.) Daily "Just Checking Calls" also available for additional reassurance of safety and well being. Also provides "Care Giver Relief" - Respite Care, as well as Alzheimer's Support. Services are not limited to the home, but are available to provide assistance in the hospital, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility.
Family Caregiver Alliance
Family Caregiver Support Program The Family Caregiver Support Program, working in partnership with Area Agencies on Aging and local community-service providers will provide five basic services: information about resources; assistance to families in locating services; caregiver counseling, training, and support; respite care; and limited one-of-a-kind services. Services are available for caregivers of adult family members age 60 or older, and for grandparents, age 60 or older, caring for a child age 18 and younger.
Handi-Care, Inc. Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Provides services to the elderly and disabled individuals that may have personal homecare needs. Offers non-emergency transportation for medical and other appointments, social outings, etc. Eldercare consulting - offers assistance in arranging and locating necessary services for any home-bound individual. Provides in-home-aides for the CAP, PCS, COG, and private pay homecare programs. Adult-Day Contact provides a day to day visit or call to check on the wellbeing of home-bound clients when family members are away. Sitter/Companion/Respite-Relief services to families. Offers used medical equipment at no charge to any individual for as long as needed as long as the equipment is returned when no longer needed. Licensed homecare provider. Employment opportunities for retired healthcare workers.
North Carolina Family Caregiver Support Program
Right at Home Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Provides non-medical assistance to senior citizens in their homes that will enable them to live independently in their own homes. Supplies respite care for family caregivers. Services include light housekeeping, meal preparation, medical reminders, transportation, errands, and companionship. All caregivers are bonded, insured, and trained. Available 24 hours, 7 days a week. A three hour minimum service is required. |
