Medical Information and Assistance AIDS Leadership Foothills-Area Alliance (ALFA) Monday-Friday 9:00am - 5:00 pm ALFA provides services to people living with HIV/AIDS and offers prevention education to the community at large. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

American Homepatient Monday-Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm Medical equipment rentals, sales, and service. Home care supplies including: oxygen, C-PAP, wheelchairs, hospital beds, incontinence supplies, bathroom safety, compression stockings, ambulation aids, mastectomy products, sickroom supplies, arthritic aids, and braces.
American Lung Association Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm Educational programs on air pollution, smoking and respiratory disease. Free educational materials, films, displays, and posters. Patient service programs. Stop smoking clinics.
American Parkinson's Disease Association Refers calls to local chapters around the country for information on community services, physician referrals, and treatment methods. Education materials.
Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Medical library available on site only. Caregiver Resource Center: Resources include books that may be checked out free pamphlets on various health-related topics and photocopy privilege for caregiver resource material. The following support groups also meet at the AHEC building:
Arthritis Foundation Funds investigators at research centers around the country. Local chapters offer information and referral services. Health education programs include the Arthritis Self-Help Course, Aquatic program, Exercise program, and Club program.
Cancer Information Service Gives medically approved answers to cancer-related questions.
Catawba County Department of Social Services Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Financial assistance and social services for county citizens. Financial services for older adults include medical assistance, special assistance with cost of care in adult care homes, food stamps, help with heating bills, the distribution of commodity foods, assistance with the cost of adult day care services, and housing assistance. Social services include information and referral, in-home aide services, screening and care management, placement assistance (adult care homes and nursing homes), protective services, adaptive services for the visually impaired, congregate and home-delivered meals and transportation.
Catawba County Health Department Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm General cancer screening and chest x-rays, home health services 24 hours a day/7 days a week, health education, adult and child immunizations. Screening services: diabetes and cholesterol.
Catawba County Home Health Agency Open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day Comprehensive home health care including nursing, nursing specialties, home health aide, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, medical social work, nutritional therapy, and psychiatric nursing. The agency also provides and/or arranges durable medical equipment, preparation of third party billing, personal care services, meals-on-wheels, necessary medical supplies, home care coordinator, private duty services, homemaker services, and transportation.
CNC/Access, Inc. Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm Provides services to senior and disabled individuals that enables them to maintain their independence and remain safely in the home. Provides Certified Nursing Assist that assist with the person care needs of clients and/or post-hospitalization support. Also offer Homemaker and Companion Services to provide one-on-one companionship, while assisting with the household management tasks of our clients. Care Coordination Services also available. Assists families to locate and arrange complimenting services (i.e., medical equipment, community resources.) Daily "Just Checking Calls" also available for additional reassurance of safety and well being. Also provides "Care Giver Relief" - Respite Care, as well as Alzheimer's Support. Services are not limited to the home, but are available to provide assistance in the hospital, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility.

Guardian Health Services Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm RN "on call" 24/7 Comprehensive home health care: skilled nursing, physical, speech, and occupational therapy; medical social work; private duty nursing; respite care; lifeline; wound management; and financial guidance. JCAHO accreditation.
Handi-Care, Inc. Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Provides services to the elderly and disabled individuals that may have personal homecare needs. Offers non-emergency transportation for medical and other appointments, social outings, etc. Eldercare consulting - offers assistance in arranging and locating necessary services for any home-bound individual. Provides in-home-aides for the CAP, PCS, COG, and private pay homecare programs. Adult-Day Contact provides a day to day visit or call to check on the wellbeing of home-bound clients when family members are away. Sitter/Companion/Respite-Relief services to families. Offers used medical equipment at no charge to any individual for as long as needed as long as the equipment is returned when no longer needed. Licensed homecare provider. Hickory Good Samaritan Clinic Thuesday 11:30am - 12:30pm; Thursday 11:30am - 1:30pm; 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month 6:00pm - 8:00pm Open door clinic which provides free medical, pharmacy, and dental services to the indigent, working poor, and uninsured persons in the area.
Homecare Management Corporation Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm Provides and arranges for home care services to enable individual to life safely, comfortably, and independently in their own homes. Services include comprehensive assessments case management, in-home aide service, chore workers, companions, homemakers, respite care, information and referral.
Hospice of Catawba Valley On call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day Provides supportive services to terminally ill patients and families through nursing and medical social services, home health aides, chaplain, volunteer and bereavement (follow-up) services. The hospice concept embraces physical, emotional, psycho-social, medical and spiritual needs. Hospice accepts patients regardless of their ability to pay for services. Medicare, Medicaid, and many private insurance policies cover Hospice care. Anyone may refer a patient to Hospice.
