Area Organizations for Teens Bellaluna Theatre BellaLuna Theatre is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit professional theatre for children grades K-12. The core mission of the theatre is to provide plays that teach children how to deal with the difficult issues they face in their daily lives including: bullying, abuse, littering, strangers and harassment. Productions instruct children on ways to deal with these issues that speak directly to their concerns and give them hands-on methods to make positive choices in their lives. You might learn about rockets, sewing, photography, plants, rabbits or even horses. 4-H may take you to a summer camp, a fair, or maybe even the Nation's capital--Washington, DC! Catawba County Council on Adolescence The Council on Adolescents of Catawba County exists to provide leadership in the promotion of well-being and the prevention of at-risk behaviors among adolescents, through education, community awareness, and advocacy. Catawba Valley Youth Soccer Association Through the sport of soccer, CVYSA helps young people develop their soccer skills and strategy; teaches young people the concepts of teamwork and good sportsmanship; helps young people develop a positive attitude and a positive self-image; fosters, promotes and advances the cause of soccer in the Catawba Valley area; creates and manages Classic, Challenge and Recreational league opportunities; and p romotes the idea that winning is secondary to all of the above Girl Scout Council of the Catawba Valley Area Through educational programming, girls learn critical life skills that help them grow to become responsible adults. The Girl Scout Council of the Catawba Valley Area serves more than 5,500 girls and 1,500 adults of all ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities in seven counties — Alexander, Ashe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Iredell, and Watauga. Hickory Community Youth Theatre Get involved with live theatre. Classes and productions are offered. Hickory Youth Council The Hickory Youth Council provides 9th – 12th grade youth the opportunity to come together to learn leadership skills, to gain knowledge of how local government operates, and to serve in an advisory capacity to the Hickory City Council on issues of interest to Hickory youth.
