Periodicals at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library

Unless otherwise specified, the title can be found in the Current Magazines and Newspapers area of the library.

If "CEC" follows the title, the serial will be found on the display shelves of the Career Enhancement Center at the other end of the Reference area.

Underlined titles are displayed on the Newspaper shelves, the first shelf unit at left in the periodical storage area (on the right side of the back row of shelves). Back issues of the Hickory Daily Record and The Charlotte Observer newspapers are now stored in the Reference Office area until the microfilm is received. Request previous issues at the Reference desk.

Recent back issues are stored beneath the shelf holding the current magazine until enough issues have accumulated to be moved or microfilm has been received. Then the magazines are placed in alphabetical order by title on the Magazine Storage Shelves (microfilmed titles are in the cabinets in the CEC area; hardbound back copies of these titles are still on the Magazine Storage Shelves).

NOTE: Most of the children's magazines are circulated. See Young Adult area downstairs for magazines designated as "Young adult".

Carolina Room location refers to the Boyd Family Local History Room (the room with windows at the back side of the computer workstation area). "Cat." after a title means that the journal is bound and catalogued like a book.

Periodicals marked "Staff" are circulated among the library staff and are only available to the public after the staff has finished with them and they are placed on the storage shelves. Individual issues may be missing in some volumes.
