North Carolina LIbraries for Virtual Education

NC LIVE at the Hickory Public Library

NC LIVE is the state's electronic library, created to give access to magazine articles, national and local newspapers, business and professional journals, reference sources including encyclopedias, information about companies and their directories, and research material - all electronically.  This exciting online information goes far beyond anything readily available over the Internet and represents a rich and diverse information resource to help work, school, and other aspects of daily life.

NC LIVE is a partnership of public, academic, and community college libraries and is funded by the North Carolina General Assembly and the state's independent colleges and universities.

NC LIVE is available to anyone who uses the Hickory Public Library or other NC LIVE libraries. NC LIVE is also available from home computers to current Hickory Public Library cardholders. A home password will be provided upon request.

Goals of NC Live

  • Universal access to a core group of reference and research materials online in the form of full-text electronic information and indexes.
  • Unlimited access to digital versions of important historical documents and state government information.
  • Information to assist users in gaining access to print materials available in libraries statewide.
  • Assistance from library staff members with skills to help people of all ages use these exciting resources.
