Piedmont Wagon Transit System

The Piedmont Wagon Transit office is located at 1515 4th St SW, Conover, 28613.  Bus schedules can be obtained at the Hickory, Newton, and Conover city halls, Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, Catawba County Department of Social Services, area hospitals, and on the buses.  The Piedmont Wagon office will be glad to furnish a bus schedule upon request.  Buses operate from 6:15 AM to 6:10 PM Monday through Friday, and 7:45 AM to 4:10 PM on Saturdays.

Western Piedmont Regional Transit Authority (WPRTA) Approved - NEW!

As of August 7, 2007, the cities of Hickory, Newton and Conover and the counties of Catawba, Burke, Caldwell and Alexander all approved a resolution creating the Western Piedmont Regional Transit Authority. WPRTA is set to implement operations July 1, 2008, at which point Piedmont Wagon will no longer be a department of the City of Hickory. Piedmont Wagon will join the transit systems in Caldwell, Burke and Alexander counties to stand as a regional system designated as a separate governmental entity and governed by a Board of appointees from the participating municipalities.
