Traffic Unit

The Traffic Safety Unit was started in March 2008 with funds provided by the Governor's Highway Safety Program and the City of Hickory. The unit is currently allocated four positions. The officers assigned to this unit have received highly specialized training.

The unit is dedicated to making the highways safer by educating the public and doing presentations to neighborhoods and civic groups. The unit can also be scheduled to perform child safety seat inspections. The unit will focus on alcohol related incidents as well as enforcement on major roadways and high traffic crash areas. The unit also performs reconstruction on all fatal and serious auto crashes. We look forward to partnering with the community to make our highways a safer place.
