Bulk (Dumpster) Service

The City of Hickory offers commercial businesses competitively priced services for 4,6 and 8 yard dumpsters emptied up to 6 times per week. A contractual agreement is NOT needed to obtain the City’s service. Occasional bulky items that are not conducive to putting into a dumpster are also picked up at no extra charge. These features set us apart from private companies that provide commercial waste collection.

Commercial Recycling Service

The City of Hickory is proud to be one of the few municipalities in North Carolina to offer recycling services to commercial and institutional entities within the city limits. Many of these services are provided at no charge, including:

Office Paper Recycling

Plastic container recycling

Aluminum container recycling

Mixed paper recycling

Scrap metal recycling

Corrugated cardboard recycling (large generators of corrugated cardboard that require a dumpster to service pay only a monthly dumpster rental fee and receive unlimited pickups at no charge.)

You need not be a City of Hickory dumpster customer to receive the above services.

ABC Permit Holders Recycling Service

ABC Permit holders required by State Law to recycle their containers also have service available from the City of Hickory (Hickory dumpster customers only).  There is a nominal fee for the collection of glass containers, though aluminum and plastic are collected at no charge.  Call 323-7500 for more information.
