Help the Environment by Recycling Oil

Each year an estimated 200 million gallons of used oil are disposed of improperly and are polluting our environment. Just one gallon can contaminate one million gallons of fresh water - a year's supply for fifty people.  You can "Be a HERO" and help stop the flow of these pollutants.

HERO, Help the Environment by Recycling Oil, is a recycling program developed specifically to make the disposal of used oil easy and environmentally friendly.

You can deposit your used oil at local "HERO" collection sites. Look for the HERO signs at business and public collection sites. Your used oil will be picked up by a hauler and recycled into a valuable energy resource - such as producing electricity for homes and industry. So save energy, help the environment, and "Be a HERO"!

To earn the title of Be a HERO
you must use the following guidelines before taking your used oil to a collection point.

All used oil should be:

• free of trash
• not mixed with other liquids
• 5 gallons or less from residential do-it-yourselfers only
• put in a spillproof container

Please call the location you wish to use, before taking your oil, for specific instructions and times.
