Fitness & Aerobic Programs
Jazzercise In The Morning: Get it in gear first thing in the morning! Offered for adults Tuesday –Thursday at 8:45 am. Can’t make it in the morning? Join us in the evening. Easy moves, total toning and aerobic conditioning. Tuesday & Thursday, 6 pm-6:55 pm and Saturday 10:15 am – 11:30 am. Instructor: Claudia Nail.
Teen Fitness Program: Ongoing program for youth ages 13-17 years. All participants must complete the teen fitness program to be eligible to workout on their own during designated times.
Blood Pressure Screenings: Held in the fitness center from 7:00 am-12:00 pm and 4:30 pm-7:00 pm. Offered the first Wednesday of every month. Participants must be 13 years of age or older to participate.
Core Performance: Class is offered on Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 pm-1:30 pm. This class focuses on core stability, strengthening of the core muscles, and flexibility. Core Performance is a great class for athletes and those seeking to boost their performance in their daily activities.
Cycle Class: Offered on Tuesday & Thursday, 5:30-6:15 pm. Cycle is a great form of fitness that is easy on the joints and is low impact. This class is intense and will help you increase your cardiovascular endurance. Cycle classes have always been popular, so come out and give it a try!
Body Pump: Body Pump is a class that incorporates cardiovascular training, strength training and flexibility into a high intensity 45 minute session. This is a wonderful class for those seeking to shed a couple of pounds and decrease their body fat. Offered on Thursday 7:15 pm-8:00 pm.
Seminar on Nutrition for the Holidays: Saturday, November 22nd, 11:00 am. There is no doubt that we all tend to eat more around the holidays and we also eat foods that we should not eat. This seminar will focus on strategies to keep from indulging too much during the holidays and emphasize the importance of continued physical activity. There is no charge for the event.
Highland Recreation Center Programs:
Halloween Mask Making: Monday, October 27th, 6:00 pm. This event is open to children 12 and under. Parents are encouraged to attend. Arts and crafts materials will be provided to make any type of Halloween mask that you can imagine.
Thanksgiving Craft Class: This activity is for children 12 years of age and under and their parents. Each participant will have an opportunity to make various crafts to help celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. All supplies will be provided and the cost is free. This event will begin at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 15th.
Madden Football Tournament: Ages 16 and up. Cost is free and the fun begins on Monday, November 17th at 5:30 pm. A trophy will be awarded to winner and runner up. Play Station 2 will be used for this
tournament.
Christmas Card Activity: Wednesday, December 10th, 4:00 pm. This activity will be open to all ages. Make a card to send to someone special. All supplies will be provided including envelopes. There is no cost for the activity.
Three Point Shoot-Out: Open to ages 15 and up. Each participant will have one minute to hit as many three’s as possible in each round. The top four will advance from the first round and the top two from the second. Trophies will be awarded to the winner and runner-up. This event will begin at 6:30 on Wednesday, December 17th.
