Bantam Basketball

The Hickory Parks and Recreation Department is now registering players for Bantam Basketball. Any boy age 7 or 8 years old who will not be 9 before October 15, 2008 or any girl ages 6, 7, or 8 who will not be 9 before October 15, 2008 will be eligible to register.

Skills assessments will be held on Friday, November 14, 2008 and Monday, November 17, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. for girls and 6:30 p.m. for boys at the Highland Recreation Center at Stanford Park, 1451 8th St. Dr. NE. All new players must attend one skills assessment in order to be placed on a team.

All players living outside the city limits of Hickory must pay a $40.00 non-resident fee. All players must pay their non-resident fee if required, bring a copy of their birth certificate, if not already on file and have a parent or guardian present at the time of registration. Those children who have previously participated in Parks and Recreation Department programs may register by telephone.

All children participating are encouraged to purchase accident insurance coverage. The $6.00 insurance covers the participant for a one-year period from March 1, 2008 until February 28, 2008 in all activities sponsored and supervised by the Parks and Recreation Department. The $250,000 coverage is primary coverage that pays, regardless of other insurance, directly to the participant, doctor or hospital. The insurance must be paid at the time of registration.
