YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football Program

The Hickory Parks and Recreation Department announces registration for the youth Flag Football Program.  Registration is open to boys and girls ages 5 - 8, (must be 5 as of October 15, 2008) and cannot be 9 before October 15, 2008.

 

Boys and girls ages 5 -8 may register by having a parent come by the Parks and Recreation Department administrative office at 1451 8th St. Dr. NE between the hours of 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.  Parents of children who have previously registered their child through the master registration system may register by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 322-7046.  A $40.00 non-resident fee for persons living outside the city limits of Hickory must be paid and a copy of the child’s birth certificate must be presented at the time of registration. 

 

Skills assessments for the league will be held Tuesday, August 26th or Thursday, August 28th at 5:30 pm for 5 - 6 year olds, and 6:30 pm for 7 - 8 year olds, at the Samuel William Davis, Sr. Multipurpose Field located at 735 3rd St. S.W.  Rain dates are Wednesday, August 27th or Friday, August 29th, same time and place.

 

All children participating are encouraged to purchase accident insurance coverage.  The $6.00 insurance fee covers the participant for a one-year period from March 1, 2008 to February 28, 2009 in all activities sponsored and supervised by the Parks and Recreation Department.  The $250,000 coverage is primary coverage that pays regardless of other insurance, directly to the participant, doctor, or hospital.  The $6.00 insurance fee must be paid at time of registration.

Tackle Football Program

The Hickory Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce that registration for its Midget Football program is now being held.  Any boy or girl, 9 years old as of October 15, 2008 and who will not be l3 before October 15, 2008 is eligible to participate in the program.  Those interested in playing football may register by having a parent come by the Parks and Recreation Department administrative office at 1451 8th St. Dr. NE between the hours of 8:30 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday to fill out a registration card.  Parents of children who have previously registered their child through the master registration system may register by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 322-7046.

 

A birth certificate must be presented when registering if a copy is not already on file at the Parks and Recreation Department.  A $40.00 non-resident fee for persons living outside the city limits of Hickory must be paid at the time of registration.  All children participating are encouraged to purchase accident insurance coverage. All children that have registered must attend one skills assessment session in order to be eligible to play football.  Skills assessments are scheduled for Saturday, August 2nd or Saturday, August 9th, 9 -10 yrs old at 10:00 am and 11 - 12 yrs. old at 11:30 am.  Both skills assessments will be conducted at Neill W. Clark, Jr. Recreation Park Field #3, located at 3404 6th St. Dr. NW.  Rain dates will be Sunday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 10th, 9 -10 yrs old at 2:00 pm and 11 - 12 yrs. old at 3:30 pm.
