Youth Lacrosse
The Hickory Parks and Recreation Department announces registration for Youth Lacrosse. Boys and girls ages 9-17 may register by having a parent come by the Parks and Recreation Department located at 1451 8th Street Drive, NE between the hours of 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Parents of children who have previously registered their child through the master registration system may register by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 322-7046.
Leagues will be offered for both boys and girls ages 9 – 17. There will be three different age groups: 9 – 11,12 – 14 and 15-17 with the age cut off being October 15, 2008. Skills assessments will be held on Tuesday, February 19th or Thursday, February 21st at 5:00 pm for 9-11 year olds, 6:00 pm for 12-14 year olds and 7:00 pm for 15-17 year olds. Rain dates will be Wednesday, February 20th and Friday, February 22nd at the same times listed above. All assessments will be held at the Neill W. Clark, Jr., Recreation Park Field # 1 located at 3404 6th St. Dr., NW. All participants interested must attend one of the skills assessments.
All persons living outside the city limits of Hickory must pay a $40.00 non-resident fee. A birth certificate must accompany the registration if one is not on file at the Parks and Recreation Department.
All children participating in lacrosse are encouraged to purchase accident insurance coverage. The $6.00 insurance fee covers the participant for a one-year period from March 1, 2008 to February 28, 2009 in all activities sponsored and supervised by the Parks and Recreation Department. The $250,000.00 coverage is primary coverage that pays regardless of other insurance, directly to the participant, doctor or hospital. The $6.00 insurance fee must be paid at time of registration.
