Youth Softball

The Hickory Parks and Recreation Department is now registering for summer softball and baseball. The leagues include T-ball, Mighty Mite, Midget, Little, Junior and Senior Baseball as well as Pee Wee and Midget Girls Softball. Players who participated last year and have played in any other program sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department may call to sign up at 322-7046.

All persons living outside the city limits must pay a $40.00 non-resident fee. A birth certificate must accompany the registration if one is not on file at the Parks and Recreation Department.

All children participating in softball and baseball are encouraged to purchase accident insurance coverage. The $6.00 insurance fee covers the participant for a one-year period from March 1, 2008 to February 28, 2009 in all activities sponsored and supervised by the Parks and Recreation Department. The $250,000 coverage is primary coverage that pays regardless of other insurance, directly to the participant, doctor, or hospital. The $6.00 insurance fee must be paid at time of registration.

The Hickory Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce skills assessments for Girls Softball ages 7 - 12. All skills assessments will be held Stanford Park, located at 1451 8th St. Dr. NE.

Pee Wee -Ages 7,8,9 cannot be 10 before May 1, 2008. Will be held on Monday, March 17th or Wednesday, March 19th at 5:30 pm. Rain dates are Tuesday, March 18th and Thursday, March 20th at 5:30 pm.

Midget - Ages 10,11,12 cannot be 13 before May 1, 2008. Will be held on Monday, March 17th or Wednesday, March 19th at 6:30 pm. Rain dates are Tuesday, March 18th and Thursday, March 20th at 6:30 p.m.

All new players must attend one skills assessment in order to be drafted on a team.
