Youth Wrestling
The Hickory Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce registration for youth wrestling. Boys and girls ages 5 – 15 who will not be 16 before October 15, 2008 may register by having a parent come to the Hickory Parks and Recreation Administrative Offices located at 1451 8th St. Dr. NE, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Parents of children who have previously registered their child through the master registration system may call the Parks and Recreation Department at 322-7046 to register.
A birth certificate must be presented when registering for the wrestling program if one is not already on file at the Parks and Recreation Department. A $40.00 non-resident fee must be paid at the time of registration for those who reside outside the city limits of Hickory. Returning participants must mail in the non-resident fee prior to the first scheduled practice.
All children participating in the wrestling program are encouraged to purchase accident insurance coverage. The $6.00 insurance covers the participant for a one-year period from March 1, 2008 until February 28, 2009 in all activities sponsored and supervised by the Parks and Recreation Department. The $250,000.00 coverage is primary coverage that pays regardless of other insurance, directly to the participant, doctor, or hospital. The insurance must be paid at the time of registration.
There will be an organizational meeting on Tuesday, November 18th at Neill W. Clark, Jr. Recreation Center located at 3404 6th St. Dr., NW at 6:00 p.m. Practices will begin Tuesday, November 25th and will be held during the week at Neill W. Clark, Jr. Recreation Center. Matches will be held on Saturdays and will begin in January.
